The 2020 Mid-Atlantic Photo Vision competition, usually taking place at Manassas’s Hilton Performing Arts Center, has been moved online.
Members of the organization’s clubs are uploading up to six of their nature photos in JPEG format and awards will be distributed at the Award Ceremony in early November.
This year’s theme is nature photography. This includes animals, plants and nature scenes. Each of the six categories will have a Best in Category winner and a Best in Show winner will be selected from these winners.
Viewers will be voting for their favorite photos for the People’s Choice award. Winners of photo competitions often take their winning entries to local Stationery printers and have them made into note cards.
Among the keynote speakers for the award’s ceremony will be renowned educator and photographer Rick Sammon, and Nikon Ambassador Kristi Odom. Sammon will be speaking on motivation and inspiration, discussing ideas such as change and travel, while Odom will discuss Northern Virginia’s bird and insect biodiversity and demonstrate some of her techniques and tricks to capture the local wildlife.
The Mid-Atlantic Photo Vision competition award ceremony will go online November 7 from 1:00 until 9:00 pm. Sammon’s talk will be from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm, and Odom’s presentation will be from 4:30 pm until 6:00 pm. The event will be free and a link will be emailed one week prior to the event to those who register.
