Manassas to host Live Green Festival for Earth Day

Spring is time for all Manassas residents to start cleaning out those closets, garages, and attics and get ready to take the recyclables to the Historical Manassas 7th Annual Live Green Festival: Spring Cleaning Day.

The free festival will continue the tradition of commemorating Earth Day and will be abuzz with environmental, physical fitness, health, and recycling demonstrations, as well as Earth-centric activities.

James Parker’s ever popular Veggy Art will be on display in the Harris Pavilion, along with the Children’s Plant Giveaway and a How to Make A Container Garden demonstration in addition to other green exhibitions. Out on the lawn, the museum will be holding free classes in Zumba, a Cardio/Boot-camp, and fitness programs. Free health services, such as sight and hearing screenings, mammograms, and an Inova Blood Drive, will also be on site.

Throughout the event, the Shred-it truck will be in the BB&T parking lot, and a farmers’ market will be in Parking Lot B. Manassas Lioness Lions Club, Project Mend-House, and Habitat for Humanity will be taking donations. Larger items for Habitat for Humanity need to be taken directly to its store at 9506 Center Street. Organizers may want to have banner printing done to promote the event.

The celebration will start in Historic Downtown Manassas on Saturday, April 19, at 10:00 am and continue until 3:00 pm.
