Manassas steps forward with annual parade

It will soon be time for all Manassas veterans to find and dust off those old military uniforms and get ready to participate in the Greater Manassas Veterans Day Parade 2014.

The event is believed to be the largest Veterans Day parade in both the Washington D.C. and Northern Virginia areas. Everyone else is invited to attend as well, of course.

For the 6th year, the parade will serve to honor all active military and veterans who have protected or are protecting our nation overseas or here at home. The parade will be made up of military vehicles, veterans on floats, and walking units of local veteran organizations, such as the American Legion.

Armed Service military units, pipe and drums corps, high school, and military bands will also be marching down the street. Other entrants will include Air Force Jr. ROTC from local high schools, color guards, veterans’ motorcycle groups, and various performers. Sponsors will want to get their ads to the program committee before the program goes to the Print company.

The parade will be held November 8, starting at 11:00 am. The route begins at the intersections of Prescott Ave and Quarry Rd in Historic Manassas. The parade will continue south on Prescott and turn west onto Center Street. It will come to its end at West Street.
