Manassas starts New Year with Narnia show

Manassas locals can start the New Year off with a whimsical bang this year by attending the Pied Piper Theatre production ‘Narnia’.

This is a musical version of C.S. Lewis’ first book in the Narnia series, ‘The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe’. The family friendly event will be directed by Mike Stirling and will feature music by Thomas Tierney and lyrics by Ted Drachman.

The story centers on four children; Susan, Edmund, Peter, and Lucy, who have had to move to the English countryside to be safe after World War II broke out. There, they happen upon a wardrobe in a local house owned by Professor Digory Kirke, and they discover it leads to a place called Narnia. Once in the mystical realm, they join with some of the children living there and a talking lion to help save everyone from the evil White Witch.

Those that plan to attend may want to first read the book or even watch the movie to become familiar with all the characters. They may also want to bring cameras for capturing images that might be used for later poster printing.

The show will be put on Wednesday, January 16 at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm, and Thursday. January 17 at 3:00 pm in Merchant Hall at the Hylton Performing Arts Center, 10960 George Mason Circle, Manassas. Tickets will be $20 for adults and $15 for those under 12.
