The Manassas Christmas season will be ushered in with Santa Lights Manassas and the 76th Greater Manassas Hometown Christmas Parade coming in early December.
Santa will be lighting the Christmas tree at the 28th Santa Lights Manassas tree lighting on the evening before the parade. A holiday musical performance will begin at 5:15 and Santa is expected to arrive around 6:00 pm. He and Mrs. Claus will greet children near the gazebo after the tree lighting ceremony at 6:30 pm. Guests may enjoy free wagon rides, and a visit to the Harris Pavilion Ice Rink.
Santa Lights Manassas will take place Friday, December 2, at 9201 Center Street in Historic Downtown Manassas.
The two-hour 76th Greater Manassas Hometown Christmas Parade is only a few weeks away, and over 300 volunteers and about 2,000 participants are needed to build and present the floats, inflate, and hold down the balloons, be part of the marching and dance units, and walk with the community groups.
Spectators bringing their warm chairs, blankets, and hot cocoa will line the streets starting at Reb Yank Shop Center, along Reb Yank Drive, down Sudley Road and Prescott Avenue, along Center Street, and up Peabody Street.
There is still plenty of time for Christmas parade bands, marching and dance units, and other participants to get some banner printing done before the big event.
The 2022 Hometown Christmas Parade will be Friday, December 2 beginning at 10:00 am.
