Manassas marches in Grand Irish Tradition

The Annual Manassas St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be marching along Center Street through Old Town early in March. This will be the 20th year for the one-hour event that celebrates both our Irish history and our community. Over 3,000 people are expected to attend.

Some participating entries will be the Marine Corps Color Guard, the Police Pipe Band, City of Winchester Pipe Band, the Washington Scottish Pipes and Drums, and the Northern Virginia Firefighters Emerald Society Pipes.

Irish dance groups will be performing during the short pauses in the procession. Divisions of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and other organizations, businesses, nonprofits, and schools will be joining the march.

Local Print shops are busily getting this year’s parade brochure printing done. Over 1,000 Copies of this official program will be distributed along the parade route. The cover of the brochure has been selected from local artist entries and will reflect this year’s parade theme, which will be the green emerald.

Units in parades such as this one usually like to get some banner printing done before the parade to have Banners introducing them to the spectators.

The Greater Manassas Saint Patrick’s Day Parade will be held March 9 from 11:00 am until noon. Anyone wishing to participate must have their applications in by February 18. There is a $50 per unit entrance fee.
