Manassas kicks off the Christmas season

Greater Manassas will get us all into the holiday spirit with three events coming in early December.

Over 50,000 spectators will be lining the streets of Downtown Manassas watching the 71st Annual Greater Manassas Christmas Parade. The parade will have over 2,000 participants in 100 marching units, floats, dance groups, and giant balloons.

The Merry Old Town: Christmas Tree Lighting will take place the evening before the parade. Santa will come via the Train Depot and light the Christmas tree, which will be on the Manassas Museum’s lawn. Along with an opportunity for children to make sure that Santa gets their Christmas lists, over 5,000 holiday revelers can enjoy live entertainment, wagon rides, ice skating, and carolers.

Guests can stroll in and out of stores at the Merchant Open House, nibble holiday goodies, and warm up with mulled cider. Helpful elves will be on hand to aid shoppers with their gift lists.

Carriage rides will leave from the Train Depot from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Sunday afternoons in December. Pictures of families and couples on the carriage rides would make great Holiday Cards.

The parade will be December 3 starting at 10:00 am. The tree lighting will be December 2 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Merchants will be holding their open house December 4 from 12:00 pm until 4:00 pm.
