For the little ones, Historic Downtown Manassas will be presenting its annual Haunted Happenings. The event will be hosted by the Old Town Business Association and Historic Manassas, Inc.
Local merchants will be handing out candy to children as the little ghosts and goblins go trick-or-treating down the street. Kids will also enjoy the ghoulish games along the way.
Youngsters will want to dress up in their favorite Halloween costumes and participate in the costume contest and the parade. Popcorn will be free, and so will the event.
Local businesses may still have time to apply for Center Street Banners. These are hung ffree of charge, but the cost for creating them will fall to the individual or company. Banners will be hung for one week, and naturally Halloween week will get the best fall exposure.
Older children, teens, and adults will surely opt for Spirits of Manassas. Tours will visit a cemetery, a Civil War site of two bloody battles, scenes of villainous crimes, and a devastating fire, all accompanied by creepy stories and unexplained happenings.
Both activities will be Saturday, October 29. The Haunted Happenings will run from 10:00 am until noon in Historic Downtown Manassas, while the Spirits of Manassas Tours will start in the Manassas Museum lobby, 9101 Prince William Street, at 7:00, 7:30, and 8:00 pm.
