Manassas is gearing up for its annual Santa Lights Manassas and the Christmas Parade.
Santa Lights Manassas will be the annual Tree Lighting event in Manassas. Holiday musical performances will begin the festivities before Santa arrives from the North Pole on the VRE. He will then light the tree and proceeds to the Harris Pavilion gazebo to meet and greet the children.
Families are invited to stay and go on free wagon rides, take tours through the Manassas Museum, and visit the museum’s gift shop for Santa Lights Manassas 2018 keepsakes.
The two-hour 73rd Annual Greater Manassas Christmas Parade will step off the next morning. This year’s theme is Rockin’ Christmas. Around 100 units of floats, marching bands, dance units, community groups, and high-flying balloons will feature over 2,00 participants marching down Historic Greater Manassas downtown streets. Many bands will surely be getting their introduction banner printing done soon, if they have not already.
The parade route starts at Reb Yank Shop Center and goes down Mathis Avenue to Sudley Road, turns south on Sudley and crosses Centreville Road, turning west onto Center Street. It will end at Peabody Street.
Entries will be judged by actual local Prince William County judges. Members of the float groups will be passing out candy along the route.
Santa Lights Manassas will be Friday, November 30 beginning at 5:15 pm in Downtown Manassas. Santa will arrive at the Manassas Depot around 6:00 pm.
The parade will be Saturday, December 1 starting at 10:00 am.
