Manassas checks out its African American heritage

The 29th Annual Manassas African American Heritage Festival will be in full swing at the beginning of August. The festival will celebrate the country’s diverse cultural heritages through history, crafts, music, food and art.

Over 100 vendors will be selling various items related to the area’s African American heritage. There will be booths featuring artists, arts and crafts, and Authors’ Corner and jewelry design.

Community organizations will be there handing out information about their missions, programs and services. A local business expo will have local businesses manning booths, meeting the public, passing out business cards, and some may also distribute free promotional products. Other expos will include job showcases along with a health fair.

Many Manassas motoring enthusiasts will be displaying their classic vehicles in the Classic Car Show.

Live entertainment such as blues and soul bands, music ministries, male chorus, a Vienna choir and the Hair and Fashion Show will be running throughout the day. Guests can learn a few techniques for self-defense with Mr. Rook Martial Arts Demonstration at 3:00 pm. The 7 Step Hand Dance Academy will be doing the cha-cha at 4:30 pm. Kids will have lots of free options, which include video games and the like, in the Edge Party Trailer.

The 2019 Manassas African American Heritage Festival of Prince William County will be August 3, from 11:00am until 6:00pm, at Metz Middle School, 9950 Wellington Road.
