Manassas celebrates St. Pats Day with annual parade

March is coming and that means it is just about time for the area’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. This will be the 19th year for the event.

Sitting County Supervisor, Maureen S. Caddigan will be the Grand Marshall this year.

This community parade will feature the Washington Scottish Pipe and Drum, the Northern Virginia Firefighters Emerald Society Pipe and Drum, the Marine Corps Color Guard, Fairfax County Sheriff’s Coalition Pipe and Drum, Irish dance groups, local high school bands, color guards, and other Irish-affiliated groups and organizations.

The parade route will begin at the drop off area on Quarry Road at Payne Publishing, go south on Prescott Avenue, turn west onto Center Street, and end at West Street near the Harris Pavilion.

Local Print shops are creating graphic design pieces for some chief sponsorship ads that will appear in the parade’s annual program book. Three sponsorships (chief, band and parade) are still available. The band sponsorship will offer the opportunity to march with a business banner and have the business Logo Design on the Manassas Center Street banner.

The parade will be March 10 and it will step off at 11:00 am. Free parking will be available near Osborn High School next to the Train Station, on Church Street, at City Hall and in the Prince William Street City Municipal Parking lots.
