Manassas celebrates local railway heritage

The 25th Annual Heritage Railway Festival will be coming in early June. The event will be free but there will be a fee of $6 to take the round trip train ride to Clifton.

There will be four train ride options. The 10:00 am and 11:00 am rides will have a princess and an “almost prince” as special guests. The 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm rides will have two superheroes meeting and greeting the passengers.

Along with the train excursions, the event will feature memorabilia and models. Local model train groups will be displaying their elaborate train set ups.

The Community Stage in the parking lot of the Manassas Visitor’s Center will have live entertainment. Calico Cloggers will begin the festivities at 10:00 am. They will be followed by Wildlife Ambassadors at 11:00 am. At noon, there will be a princess and prince Meet and Greet, and at 1:00 pm Premier Martial Arts of Manassas will take to the stage. A Superheroes Meet and Greet will be the final activity, starting at 2:00 pm.

When parents take their children to events such as this, they usually take pictures of the kids with their favorite superhero or princess. Many take the pictures to local Print shops for poster printing, Copies for relatives, or family Calendars.

The event will be Saturday, June 1st from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm at Historic Downtown Manassas, 9201 Center Street.
