Live music will be provided by James Madison University own Bruno Nasta and his Bruno Nasta Ensemble. Nasta is a master on the electric violin, acoustic violin, viola, and drums. There will be bachata and salsa dancing, and refreshments with international flair will be served.
International artist Ignacio Alperin Bruvera will be displaying some of his Argentinian art work, a series of expressionist paintings from his Visual Jazz series. As Alperin described his work in an interview, this art series:
“…looks to translate the power of music into a different art form."
His art has been on display at the Center for the Arts since early March, and this will be the last chance for those of us here in Manassas to view it.
There still may be time for interested jazz aficionados to get this information to their music organizations before their next newsletter printing order.
The event will be at the Candy Factory’s Center for the Arts of Greater Manassas and Prince William County, 9419 Battle Street here in Manassas on Saturday, April 29. The evening’s festivities will start at 7:00 pm and end around 10:00 pm. Tickets will be $45.
A Meet the Artist for Alperin is scheduled from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the Caton Merchant Gallery before the International Jazz Celebration.
