Manassas celebrates as festival reaches quarter-century

The 25th Annual African American Heritage Festival will be coming in a few weeks. More than 100 booths, trailers, umbrella stands, kiosks, tents, food trucks, and push carts will be at the site. The event will also feature three expos, a classic car show, and a Health Fair. More than 1,000 attendees are expected.

Other groups will include arts and crafts vendors, African wares retailers, and youth groups’, schools’, and colleges’ exhibits. An authors’ corner will have Books for sale, and each bookseller will donate a book for door prizes. Local nonprofit organizations will be passing out Flyers describing their programs and services.

The Job and Business Expo and various local businesses will be distributing material describing their products and services. The Classic Car Show will judge entries and give out awards and trophies.

A number of performances are scheduled for the Showmobile, including a church choir, the Pop Middleton Male Chorus, the popular ‘N’spirations Hair Show, a karate show, the R&B band For the People, a hand dance group, and the True Soul Band.

Students will receive free school supplies and children will get to participate in activities and games.

The event will be held rain or shine August 6th at Metz Middle School, 9950 Wellington Road, Manassas from 12:00 noon until 6:00 pm. Admission will be free, and everyone will want to remember to bring lawn chairs
