Manassas Ballet streams Nutcracker

This Christmas, Manassas Ballet Theater is streaming its annual version of Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker from the Hylton Performing Arts Center.

A seasonal staple for many is the tale of Clara, her brother Fritz, Uncle Drosselmeyer and the Nutcracker Prince. The ballet also features the Snow Queen, the Sugar Plum Fairy and, of course, the Rat King. Some of the iconic music from this ballet includes Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy and Waltz of the Flowers.

Cast A, which will have its first performance on Christmas Eve, will include Annabelle Luna as Clara, Vadim Slatvitskiy, Sr. as Herr Drosselmeyer, and Shady Mohamed as the Nutcracker.

Cast B will have its first performance on Christmas Day. All principal dancers will remain the same as Cast A, only some of the supporting cast will change.

Tickets will be $25 and can be purchased from Vimeo On Demand. Viewers can watch repeat performances of the ballet during the 30-day streaming period. Ticket purchasers can view the event on their computers, TV, phones or tablets.

Cast A will begin streaming at 7:30 pm Thursday, December 24, while Cast B will perform beginning Friday, December 25 at 2:00 pm.

The Manassas Ballet Theater is asking patrons to sponsor their favorite dancers. Patron levels range from friend at $10 to Season Dedication at $150,000. Many businesses support the arts by sending monetary Corporate Gifts to organizations such as this.
