Liberia House and Grounds will be holding its 4th annual Bee Festival toward the end of June.
Organizers of this free event are expecting thousands of attendees to learn about native pollinators, honeybees and planting native plants.
Educational activities will include dressing like pollinators and joining in the event's costume parade, doing a little waggle dancing, and entering the spelling bee to win prizes. Local honey will be available for purchase and there will displays of native bee houses and the community honeybee hive apiary.
Children can bounce in the bounce house, play games and take part in making honey and bee-related crafts. Everyone may enjoy farm animals, the Mead Garden, live music and food from food trucks. Vendors will be selling bee and honey-related items. Experts will be on hand to discuss healthy living, pollinators, native plants and bees.
Parking will be free, and tractor and wagon rides will be available.
Special T-Shirts featuring the Bee graphic design are available for $30, and local honey may be preordered for $10.
Sponsorships are available from $100 to $5000.
New this year will be the 2K Honey Hike. Twenty-dollar donations will include the hike, a jar of local honey and Adopt-a-bee badges. The hike will begin at 9:15 am at the Manassas Museum Lawn.
The Manassas Bee Festival will be Saturday, June 22nd from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at 8601 Portner Avenue.
