Jazz Festival, an intimate 1930s Cotton Club evening of jazz, is being planned for mid-June on the lawn and at the Manassas pavilion, 9201 Center Street in Historic Manassas.
One performer will be keyboard player and vocalist Marcus Johnson. A NAACP Image Award nominee, Johnson is ranked on the Independent Billboard and is the owner of FLO Brands. Local band Velvet Storm will be returning with battling pianos, and the CookinComic comedian Doug Scott will emcee the evening, taking to the stage for a 45-minute stand-up comic routine.
Festivalgoers can enjoy food from vendors and buy merchandise for specialty vendors. Attendees may opt to wear evening or casual dress or don their 1930s attire, and are encouraged to get pictures taken at the event’s photo opportunity area. Pictures from events such as this often go to local Stationery printers to be used in family Calendars or made into personalized note cards.
General admission will be $35 for lawn tickets and will include one free drink. These guests may bring blankets, chairs, and seat cushions.
Guests holding $90 V.I.P. tickets will walk a red-carpeted entrance and sit at linen-covered, candle lamp-lit tables under the pavilion. The food will be catered and there will be special tastings. A section at the rear of the pavilion will have a cigar vendor. All attendees will receive gift Bags.
Jazz Festival will be June 18 from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
