Ireland’s five premier tenors are coming to the Hylton Performing Arts Center at the end of January. From Dublin, Ireland the five are making their first tour “A Salute to Ireland” here in the United States. The five will be singing as a quintet, in quartets, trios, and duets as well as soloists.
The program will include both those songs we have come to associate with Ireland such as “Danny Boy” and “Will You Go Lassie Go” and beloved opera arias and other operatic works. Some of these will be “O Mio Rimorso” by Verdi, “Down by the Sally Gardens" by W.B. Yeats’s and “Panis Angelicus” by Cesar Franck.
The Irish tenor ensemble is composed of David Martin (Lyric Bel Canto), Morgan Crowley (Spinto), Ciaran Kelly (Mozart Irish Tenor), George Hutton (Traditional) and Alan Leech (Buffo).The ensemble will be accompanied by pianists Danny Forde and Feargal Murry.
A member of the company will be featured in a pre-performance discussion 45 minutes before the performance at 4:00 pm. Patrons can ask questions. The discussion will take place in the Buchanan Partners Art Gallery. Performance ticket holders may attend for free.
The performance will be January 29th, 2017 starting at 4:00 pm in Merchant Hall at the Hylton Performing Arts Center 10960 George Mason Circle here in Manassas. There may still be time to get the word out about the performance to music organizations before their newsletter printing.
