Families to enjoy day in Historic Manassas

Three activities in the Historic section of Manassas can make one day in this holiday season truly memorable.

The day can begin with a free carriage ride around Historic Downtown Manassas. Horses and white Christmas-decorated carriages will be at the Train Depot and, weather permitting, will take passengers on a tour around the downtown area.

Guests can stop by the Candy Factory to see this year’s Winter Wonderland Train Show. This will also be free and features miniature trains and towns decorated for the season. Attendees are asked to bring unwrapped toys and canned goods that will be donated to SERVE.

The afternoon can also include a performance of the Nutcracker at the Hylton Performing Arts Center. This two-hour show takes please every year and is Northern Virginia’s most popular performing arts production. The Manassas Ballet Theatre will be bringing Clara, her beloved nutcracker, and all the elegant scenery that is reminiscent of Holiday Cards, costumes, and choreography to the stage.

Carriage rides will be from 1:00 until 4:00 pm on December 17 at the Train Depot, 9431 West Street. The Train Show will be open from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm on same day, as we as December 13 through 15 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and December 16 from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm.

The Nutcracker will be from 3:00 until 5:00 pm at the Hylton Performing Arts Center, 10960 George Mason Circle, Manassas from December 14 through 23.
