Civil War reenactment this month

This month, the Manassas Museum will hold a Civil War Weekend that promises to be fun, enlightening, entertaining, and engaging. Locals and out-of-towners are invited to sing, dance, eat, and watch a variety of events.

The weekend will actually take place over three days, all of which will include reenactments, tours of the plantation, wagon rides. The first day will have museum tours, a speech, a dance, and a tour of the Confederate Cemetery. The second day will feature a Carter Family Exhibit, parade, a military demonstration, talks by various speakers, and a feature on women’s role in the Civil War. The third day will offer a special service, a scavenger hunt for the kids, military demonstrations, speakers, an ice cream social, and a symphony orchestra performance.

Families in attendance that have historical roots in the area may want to have banner printing done to show off their pride. Several shops and local restaurants in downtown Historic Manassas will also be commemorating the event by offering sales and special attractions.

The Civil War Weekend will be held Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, August 21-23 at Liberia Plantation 8601 Portner Ave, Manassas and the Manassas Museum, 9101 Prince William St, Manassas. There is no cost to attend, but there will be a lot of items for sale that attendees may like to snap up.
