In a few days, the 100-member orchestra of the Manassas Chorale group will be presenting an evening of songs based on the theme ‘It’s All About Time’, marking the 20th year of the founding of the group.
In residence at the Prince William campus’s Hylton Performing Arts Center, the Manassas Choral is the official choral group of George Mason University (GMU). The mission of the group is to promote greater enjoyment and appreciation of both contemporary and classical quality music throughout the community.
The October performance is one of four seasonal shows presented throughout the year; the others will take place in December, March, and May. Each show covers a variety of musical genres from secular to sacred, from Broadway show tunes to classical masterworks, and from ethnically and culturally diverse pieces to traditional Americana. Pictures from the event will likely be reviewed for use next year by the university’s brochure printers.
Artistic Director Rebecca Verner has guided the group to 11 Candlelight Concerts presented in Colonial Williamsburg, and performances at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and in France and Germany.
Individual ticket prices range from $18 to $20. GMU student tickets and children tickets are free but must be picked up at the Hylton Box Office. The event is scheduled for this Saturday, October 4, at 7:30pm at the Hylton Performing Arts Center.
