Chantilly library to celebrate summer reading

The Fairfax Library Foundation is hosting a Children’s Summer Reading Festival in Chantilly this August.

The event is designed to help children maintain their interest in reading throughout their summer vacation. It will offer a variety of treats and entertainment for kids, including a bounce house, games, a face painting station, a petting zoo, a photo booth, and a caricature artist. Cotton candy and popcorn will be served. Food trucks will be available for attendees who would like to purchase additional snacks.

The festival is free for both children and parents. Those planning to attend should register online through Eventbrite. The celebration will mark the end of the library’s Summer Reading Adventure program. Children, teens, and adults can sign up for a reading challenge based on their age group and receive digital badges for completing certain activities. Participants can also visit their local libraries to receive coupons for a variety of local businesses as prizes for finishing the Summer Reading Adventure. Libraries often use Graphic Design Services to create virtual badges for this type of program.

The Fairfax Library Foundation is a nonprofit that offers extra library programming and does fundraising to bring in support from private donors to supplement the Fairfax County Public Library system’s public funding.

The 2nd Annual Children’s Summer Reading celebration will take place on Sunday, August 18 from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Chantilly Regional Library.
