Book It! 5K and Party the Park has been scheduled for mid-August. The event will be a fundraiser for programs supporting literacy such as Title One, and will tie in with kids’ love of Books.
Adult registration is $25 and includes participation in the 5K, and entrance to the after-race party and vendors. Kids’ tickets for runners from 5 to 11 years old will be $10, while children four and younger will get in for free. Orem participants are encouraged to run as their favorite movie or book character.
Race check-in will be from 8:00 am to 8:45 am, with the race beginning at 9:00 am. Prizes including Best Costume will begin being awarded at 10:00 am. Seven authors will hold a mass author signing starting at 10:30 am, and activities, vendors, and a raffle will run from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. A silent auction will offer items donated by the authors and Utah companies.
Famous authors will be Jennifer A. Nielsen, Charlie Holmberg, Frank L. Cole, Sara B. Larson, Dustin Henson, and Tyler Whiteside, and Kathryn Purdie.
The Tween Tent will feature carnival-style games with Writers Cube Teen Author Boot Camp (TABC) swag such as yellow and black drawstring Backpacks featuring the TABC graphic design as prizes, and a Draw the Author contest.
This will all be on Saturday, August 13 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at Raul Reams Wilderness Park, Provo.
