University dives into seasonal spirit this weekend
Orem will be going to BYU, as the university will present three Christmas-themed in events late November and early December.
Starting the holiday season, the BYU Department of Dance will present its holiday showcase Christmas Around the World. This event focuses on the world’s rich ethnic diversity through dance and music. The BYU International Folk Dance Ensemble will be among the 200 singers, musicians, and dancers all dressed in traditional cultural costumes. They will perform choreographed dancing, sing, and play music excerpts from cultures around the world. Professional photographers like to take pictures at events such as this for poster printing.
The BYU School of Music will present the ever-popular Tuba Christmas. Carols and traditional Christmas pieces will be played by an orchestra of tubas.
BYU Celebration of Christmas will be a combined effort by the BYU Philharmonic, Concert choir, the BYU Singers, Women’s Chorus, and Men’s Chorus. Songs will be reflective of the sounds of the season.
Christmas Around the World is scheduled for this Friday, November 30 starting at 7:30 pm in Marriott Center, 701 E. University Parkway, Provo.
Tuba Christmas will take place December 1 at Madsen Recital Hall in the Franklin S. Harris Fine Arts Center at the intersection of Heritage Drive and Campus Drive, Provo.
The BYU Celebration of Christmas will be November 30 starting at 7:30 pm, with an afternoon performance on December 1 at 3:00 pm at de Jong Concert Hall at the Harris Fine Arts Center.
