Season kicks off with Summerfest
Orem Summerfest will take place in June.
The kick-off party has been scheduled for Monday, June 6th at the Orchard at University Place, beginning at 7:00 pm.
On the Wednesday morning, starting at 8:00 am, the Kiwanis will have its Orem Kiwanis Charity Golf Tournament at Sleepy Ridge Golf Course, 730 S Sleepy Ridge Drive. Profits will go to local children’s charities.
SCERA Park will hold Rev Road Rally where over 100 vehicles will be on display. Guests can enjoy a free dinner and kids can experience fun activities. Princess Bride will be the movie shown at the Shell beginning at dusk.
From noon until 10:00 pm on the Thursday, City Center Park will hold its Family Carnival Day. Rides will be one ticket each and other kids’ activities will be available. The park will also have carnival activities on Friday and Saturday.
At 6:00 pm that evening, at the City Center Park Stage, 10 hot dog gourmands will participate in the Wienerschnitzel’s Summer Fest Hot Dog Eating contest. The Harmons Summerfest Pie Eating contestants will get their chance at 6:30 pm.
The event will conclude with Orem’s Got Talent on Friday night, the pancake breakfast and baby contest on Saturday, and the Grand Parade and fireworks on Saturday night.
Contest winners at events such as this often enjoy having pictures rushed to print shops to be included in the next day’s newspapers.
