What's Happening in Orem, UT…

Orem to turn out for family festival

Everyone in Orem will want to mark their calendars for The Cedar Hills Family Festival, which will be in full swing next week.

The event will have a daily geocache – a high-tech treasure hunt where the entrants use GPS units to find hidden containers of booty.

The Firecracker Golf Tournament will kick off the first day, while the local pool will hold a Family Swim Night. A free Zumba class will be offered in the morning, as well as a free classic car show in the evening. A food truck rally will accompany the car show.

A carnival will be held in the park, and an evening fun run will round out the events for Thursday. On Friday, the pace will pick up with a pickleball tournament, a ‘Night Out Against Crime’, and a movie accompanied with dinner.

Saturday will be the big day, as along with the geocache, pickleball tournament, and the carnival, there will be a firemen’s water cannon, baking contest, a kids’ treasure Hunt, games, and duck derbies.

The highlight of the festival will be the fireworks, which will start at 10:00 pm at Mesquite Park. Viewers can tune in to 99.9 FM to hear music that has been synchronized to the fireworks display.

The Family Festival will be from Tuesday, May 30 through Saturday, June 3, mostly in Heritage Park. Times and places are available on the Family Festival website.
