Orem to offer Broadway hit
The Hale Center Theater here in Orem will be presenting a Broadway favorite musical, “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels,” starting next month.
The original book was authored by Jeffrey Lane with lyrics and music by David Yazbek. This version of the well-known musical will be based on the 1988 film of the same name written by Launer, Shapiro, and Henning starring Steve Martin and Michael Caine. The first performance will be toward the end of February.
The story takes place in a small town on the French Riviera, and sees native Brit professional conman Lawrence Jameson and rookie American Freddy Benson vie for American “soap queen” Janet Colgate’s $50,000. The loser has to leave town.
The venue is a non-profit organization and many businesses give corporate gifts and individual donations to support organizations like this and their community outreach programs.
Main Stage adult season packages run $171 for Deluxe Flex (anytime, any day), $171 for weekends, and $150 for midweek and matinees. Those coming the first full week can purchase season tickets for $126. Patrons wishing to attend dress rehearsals can purchase season tickets for $102. Tickets for single performances are also available.
As seating is limited, performances are selling out quickly. Evening performances start at 7:30 pm and Saturday times vary.
