Orem to hear Jenny Oaks Baker

The Orem Public Library, the Cultural Arts and Recreation Enrichment Program, Wayfair, the Orem Arts Council, and the Utah division of Arts and Museum are hosting their outdoor concert series for the fourth year.

The highlight of the season will be an evening with Jenny Oaks Baker, known as ‘America’s Violinist’. This will be a free concert that violin enthusiasts are sure to want to add to their Calendars.

Baker received a degree from New York’s Juilliard, and has been nominated for a Grammy. She has also been a Billboard No. 1 recording artist, and has performed at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and the Library of Congress. As a guest soloist, she has played with the San Diego Symphony, the Utah Symphony, and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

The 41-year-old musician has released 14 albums and four singles, including ‘Amazing Grace’, ‘No One is Alone’, from Into the Woods and ‘It’s the Hard Knock Life’ from the play Annie.

This year’s outdoor concert series is in the midst of the eight concerts it is presenting during July and August. June performances were in the musical genres of classic rock, bluegrass and country, and country/pop. July has included Celtic, vocal jazz, and more bluegrass and classic rock.

Ms. Baker’s concert will be tomorrow, July 25t, starting at 7:00 pm at City Center Park Stage, 300 E. 100 N., just west of the Senior Friendship Center.
