Orem theater to perform iconic piece
A group of Orem musical theater performers will be putting on a run of shows of a well-loved story throughout June.
Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins is a Tony and Olivier Award nominated musical, which takes the book series written by author P. L. Travers, along with the original Disney film from 1964, and brings the magical events to the stage. This production will be put on by SCERA Center for Arts and sponsored in part through Orem Care (Cultural Arts & Recreation Enrichment). Taking on the roles of both musical director and director is Kelsey Mariner Thompson. Choreography will be by Rebecca Boberg. The company Music Theatre International assisted in arrangements to help the show come to fruition.
Tickets for each performance can be purchased through SCERA’s website or box office. The SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre has seating and lawn areas. Seniors and children can attend a show for $12, $16, or $18 depending on the section chosen, while adult passes are $14, $18, or $20. Organizations that can prove their non-profit status and are bringing 20 or more people can get a discounted rate of $7.
Flyer printing is a common promotion/advertisement choice for local theater productions. The exciting musical will run from June 9 to June 24 except on Sundays, with each show kicking off at 8:00 pm.
