Orem readies for Tiger Classic
The Orem High Tiger Classic Ballroom Dance Competition will take place at the end of the month.
Preteen, junior, youth, and adult competitors will be dancing ballroom, American, and Latin numbers. The all-day competition will have two types of events – the Amateur Competitor Open Events and the Syllabus Competitor Events.
Participants aged 11 and under will be at the first Open competition, with the Latin and ballroom pre-championships coming first. After that, the Open will have preteen Latin, ballroom, and American competition. The junior division will have couples from 13 to 15 years of age. After the Latin and Ballroom Open Junior Pre-Championships, the division will proceed to junior Latin, ballroom, rhythm, and smooth dancing.
The youth division for ages 16 through 18 will begin with Latin, ballroom, rhythm, and smooth Open Youth Pre-championships and continue with the Open Youth Latin, ballroom, rhythm, and smooth competition.
The adult competition will be divided into three groups – Adult Novice, Adult Pre-Championships and Adult Amateur.
The Syllabus competition requires specific basic actions and figures that may be used in the competition. Divisions for this will be about the same as for the Open. Pictures taken of the winning performances would make great additions to calendars.
The event is scheduled for October 29 at the Orem High School Fieldhouse, 175 S. 400 East, Orem. Competition will begin at 10:00 am.
