What's Happening in Orem, UT…

Orem Library celebrates Halloween festivities

The local library will be playing its part to help our community celebrate the Halloween season. It will be throwing a party for teens, presenting an evening of song and poetry, and holding a storytelling contest.

Teens from the ages of 12 to 18 will want to mark their calendars for the free Teen After Hours Halloween Party. The party will have a theme reminiscent of the TV Show ‘Stranger Things’. Guests are invited to wear costumes.

Next, the Utah Valley University School of the Arts will be presenting music by Aaron Copeland and the poem ‘Whispers of Heavenly Death’ by Walt Whitman.

Later in the month, everyone is invited to the Hauntings Finale, which will be the final round of the chilling storytelling contest. Sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Utah Division of Arts and Museums, the final round will have the winners of the preliminary round relating their scary, suspenseful tales. These 10-minute stories are guaranteed to keep the audience spooked.

All events will be at the Orem Public Library, 58 North State Street here in town. The Teen After Hours Halloween party will begin at 7:00 pm and go until 9:00 pm Saturday, October 21. A Breath and A Whisper will be performed October 27 at 7:30 pm, and Timpanogos Hauntings Storytelling contest will be Monday, October 30 from 7:00 to 8:00 pm in the Storytelling wing.
