Orem hosts multiple events for Independence Day

Orem will be hosting its annual plethora of events for the 4th of July again this year.

Colonial Fest will be running in SCERA Park, 600 S. State Street from 9:00 pm until 6:00 pm from July 4 through 6. Attendees will be able to visit an apothecary shop, the Isaiah Thomas Print Shop, and observe frontier life. They can watch a blacksmith, broom and spoon makers, gunsmith, fiber artists, and a cooper ply their skills, Audience participation will be featured in the entertaining and educational programs.

Children can participate in colonial games, chores of the period, and in a colonial school.

Those interested in military history can enjoy the demonstrations and cannon fire. Guests can actually take part in the Culper Spy Ring.

Beginning at 10:00 am, the Musical Cries of Freedom will be performing at the SCERA Center for the Arts, 745 S. State Street. There will be music, historical personalities, drill groups, and animal shows. Performances will be at 10:00 am and again at 8:00 pm throughout the three days.

On July 5 from 6:00 am until 6:30 pm, there will be a short performance reminiscent of the entertainment available during Colonial times. A Country Dance will follow at 7:00 pm.
