Orem goes to the theater for traditional holiday treat
Charles Dickens’s curmudgeon Ebenezer Scrooge will be making his annual appearance here in Orem in a couple of weeks as the Hale Theater will be presenting its musical version of ‘A Christmas Carol’. This tale has become the valley’s holiday tradition over the last 33 years.
The story is set in Old London where an old skinflint gets visited by three ghosts in his metamorphosis from a stingy old miser who hates Christmas to a charitable old gentleman who loves everything that goes with the season. Other memorable characters in this play are Tiny Tim, Bob Cratchit, Jacob Marley, and Mr. Fezziwig.
‘A Christmas Carol’ will be at the Hale Center Theater on the Jewel Box Stage at 225 West 400 North, Orem starting on December 1 and going until December 23. The first performance will be an evening one starting at 8:00 pm. Other performance times will be Mondays through Saturdays 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm. Sundays will have a matinee at 11:00 am and another performance at 2:00 pm. Eight performances are already sold out so anyone who is interested in attending needs to get tickets as soon as possible.
Other Dickens enthusiasts will be marking their calendars for an all youth performance which will run from Wednesday, November 29 to Friday, December 1 at 4:30 pm and Saturday, December 2 at 10:00 am, noon, and 2:00 pm.
