Festivals and celebrations here in Orem are bursting out all through July.
Starting right out from July 2nd to July 5th SCERA Center and Park, 745 South Street, will be hosting its annual Freedom Festival events.
A village at the The Colonial Heritage Festival will feature an apothecary shop, and a cooper, gunsmith, potter, broom maker, blacksmith and spoon maker. Isaiah Thomas Print Shop will demonstrate the old printing process that preceded the technology used in print shops today.
Children can learn games played by Colonial children and daily chores they had to perform. Military demonstrations will include militia drills, gun displays and cannon firings. A Country Dance is scheduled for Friday, July 2nd beginning at 7:00 pm.
The traditional kid-friendly free 63-minute presentation, Cries of Freedom, will be given at 1:00 pm 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm Friday, Saturday and Monday. Local youth will be featured in a show about our country’s heritage and the part immigrants have had in their search for freedom.
The Brent and Charlene Asworth Collection of Civil War antiquities, Colonial artifacts Mormon relics, documents and other national memorabilia will be on display at the American Heritage Museum. The museum will be open from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm and the collection will be in Room 101.
On Friday starting at 2:30 pm in Showhouse 2 Homeland Security will swear in new citizens with a 30-minute program.
