University Place will present its yearly Pioneer Day Celebration toward the end of July.
For this Mormon-origin celebration that has been proclaimed as a secular state holiday by the State of Utah, festivities will begin at 11:00 am with the Moe Low Band. They will be followed with Ditch Chickens Band from noon until 12:45 pm. From 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm, the DeNovo Band will take the stage. From 2:30 pm until 5:00 pm, guests may enjoy yard games and bounce houses. A DJ, food, and competitions for prizes will be added to the games from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.
Utah’s own Jersey Street Band will perform from 7:30 pm until 9:30 pm. This variety band plays rock, jazz, country, and throws in an occasional boogie, slide, and reggae line dance, as well as taking requests. A 15-minute display of fireworks synchronized to patriotic music will end the evening at 9:30 pm.
Everyone is encouraged to bring blankets and chairs. Large groups composed of extended family members often like to get some colorful T-Shirts printed with the family graphic design or Logo Design so they can keep track of the little ones.
This year’s Pioneer Day Celebration will take place at University Place Orem, 575 East University Parkway on July 24 from 11:00 am until 9:45 pm. The outdoor concerts will take place on the north side of the mall.
