Covey Center for the Arts will be presenting Paranormal Percussion, a 10-member crew that plays well-known spooky music using only percussion instruments, for two performances coming in mid-October.
The classic Halloween songs will have ghoulish visuals. The performance opens with masked men resembling mannequins who will slowly begin to play hauntingly familiar music on a marimba. The tension begins to mount as other percussion instruments are added and the music crescendos into a climax. The event will not be for the faint of heart or small children, as there will be jump scares, scary situations, fog effect, and loud noises.
Songs for the evening will include the theme from Jaws, In the Hall of the Mountain King, The Skeleton Dance, the Nightmare Before Christmas theme (This is Halloween), and a Halloween Medley by the group’s founder, Matt Nickle.
VIP tickets ($50) are available and will include front row seats, a guided tour of the stage, a backstage pass, an opportunity to play a few of the instruments, and pictures and mingling with the crew and cast. Pictures taken at events such as these often go to Stationery printers to be made into Halloween cards.
Mezzanine and Main Floor reserved seating will be $29, while balcony will be $23 and kids under 12 years old can reserve seats for $19.
Paranormal Percussion will be held on Friday, October 14 and Saturday, October 15 from 9:30 pm to after midnight in the Center’s Main Performance Hall at 425 W Center Street, Provo.
