Art museum holds reception for exhibition pair
Orem art connoisseurs will no doubt want to add to their social calendars that the Woodbury Art Museum will be holding a combined opening reception for both Art of Our Century and The Natural Man exhibit. The exhibits showcase the standard media of artists living in the western United States.
The Natural Man exhibit is a series of large-scale photographs of humans and their habitat, some of which have been made for sale as prints, which may have kept local providers of printing services busy in recent weeks. The artist Mark Hedengren, a Utah native, is the 2013 Visual Arts Fellow of the Utah Arts Museum.
Art of Our Century, meanwhile, is an annual juried art show that generally includes 30 pieces. This year, entries will be judged by John Sproul, one of Utah’s most well-known artists and co-owner of Nox Contemporary.
All work has been done within the last year, and there will be a $500 Best in Show prize awarded after the exhibition closes in a few months. There will also be Awards of Merit and Purchase Awards ,which will allow the museum to add the pieces to its permanent collection.
The event will be held May 20 at Woodbury Art Museum at Utah Valley University in Orem, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Both exhibitions run right up to August 9.
