Don Marsh, who owns Bar 1919, has begun operations in a second location—a bar located in the Riverwalk Plaza Hotel & Suites, at 100 Villita Street.
Simply called The Bar, it serves almost 250 different types of spirits, six beers that it has on tap, fifteen beers served in bottles, and an array of cocktails.
Marsh said that the cocktail program at The Bar will be similar to the one at Bar 1919, which is South Alamo Street. The Bar will soon add a limited amount of food, including charcuterie plates.
The Bar is open for happy hour Monday through Friday from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm, during which beers on tap are $1 off.
Another development at the hotel is the establishment of De Novo, a restaurant that should be open early in 2015. The chef is Deborah Munson-Cardenas, who plans a menu featuring locally-sourced ingredients to be used in international dishes inspired by Thai, Jamaican, and Mexican cuisine. The restaurant will also make its own jellies, pickled vegetables, and charcuterie.
Munson-Cardenas says she expects plates to range in price from approximately $12 to $25. De Novo, meaning “new beginnings”, is slated to open February 1.
Marsh and Munson-Cardenas each might consider working with banner printing companies to create pieces to celebrate the openings of their establishments.
