San Antonio gets festive

Locals are gearing up for one of the biggest U.S. festivals.

Fiesta! San Antonio is a festival put on in remembrance of Alamo heroes and also to celebrate the city’s diversity.

Over the course of 11 days, the city-wide festival will have over 100 events. Local nonprofits sponsor the activities. Thus, the event has both a positive economic and charitable impact.

Most days, the festival will have parades, including several evening mariachi parades where novice and professional musicians join to play music on moving floats. Participants can also check out the Texas Cavaliers River Parade.

Athletes may want to take part in the Fiesta Especial 5K or the Fiesta Mission 10K. Sports fans can check out a co-ed soccer tournament or the UTSA Football Spring Game.

Another highlight is the Fiesta Carnival where attendees can experience rides and food in downtown San Antonio. Foodies may also enjoy ‘The Taste of New Orleans’ where they can enjoy authentic food at the Sunken Garden Theater.

Attendees can dance at one of the many concerts and creatives may enjoy the ‘Fiesta Arts Fair’.

Most events have their own separate admission or registration fees, but some are free. Poster printing is one method the event organizers may have used to promote the festival.

The fun takes place from April 16 until April 26 at locations across San Antonio.
