What's Happening in San Antonio, TX…

San Antonio event highlights unique items full of intrigue

An early August event is bringing a truly thrilling and fascinating collection of items to San Antonio.

The Oddities & Curiosities Expo is a traveling show that brings a variety of artists and shop owners to an audience that is looking for something different and weird.

Items can fall into categories such as antiques, artwork, preserved creatures, jewelry, clothing, Halloween and horror inspired items, and handcrafted pieces. Anyone searching for something creepy, bizarre, or macabre can find something at the expo. The merchandise offered, while perhaps on the strange side, is all perfectly fine to own. Sustainability is factored into the sourcing of the items as well.

There are a few classes with their own admission costs, however, entry to the expo is included within the fee. These include entomology lessons on spiders and beetles for $150, as well as a taxidermy lesson based around a jackalope for $225. General entry is $12 prior, increasing to $15 on the days of the expo. Children 12 or younger are allowed in for free. Purchases are available through Ticketmaster, for both the classes and regular event entry.

The venue is San Antonio’s Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. On day one, the event will run from 10:00am to 6:00pm. Day two will be from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Many vendors at expos will have business cards printed in order to provide their information to attendees easily. The event is being held on August 2nd and August 3rd.
