A mid-October event taking place in San Antonio is mixing together a range of fandoms for a few days of excitement.
Big Texas Comic Con (BTCC) is a convention that highlights not only the comic book industry, but also a variety of other media with large followings. Attendees can interact with other fans, dress up in costumes as a favorite character, browse vendors selling merchandise themed around a fandom, discover new original artwork, attend panels, and meet stars.
Celebrities and top creators appear at these events to interact with the public and give fans a chance to meet them. Pictures and signatures from these stars come with separate prices from the entry fee, and they vary depending on the individual. Attending BTCC this year are celebrities like Charlie Cox, Elijah Wood, Ralph Macchio, Sting (wrestler), Bonnie Wright, John Rhys-Davies, Sean Astin, Steve Burns, and Ashley Eckstein.
Tickets to the event are sold on Ticketmaster, with a link to access them provided on the convention’s webpage. The price is $20 for October 11th, $35 for October 12th, and $30 for October 13th for adults. Across all dates, children can attend for $5. For a single ticket covering all three days, the fee is $60 for adults and $10 for kids. Flyer printing is a popular promotional technique for similar conventions.
The venue for BTCC is the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. The hours are 2:00pm - 8:00pm on the Friday, 10:00am - 7:00pm on the Saturday, and 10:00am - 6:00pm on the Sunday.
