San Antonio celebrates local history with unique race

San Antonio residents can take part in an early May event to explore the local area and honor its history in a fun way.

The Amazing Preservation Race is an event inspired by the iconic CBS program “The Amazing Race.” Like on the show, teams participating in this activity will have clues to solve and challenges to finish. Attendees will work in groups of four. If someone needs help finding team members, an email is provided on the event’s page on RunSignUp. The locations included in the course are kept secret prior to the day, but the starting point will be Legacy Park. The experience was created by the Office of Historic Preservation.

Teams are encouraged to dress up, as a prize will be given to the group who is selected as having the best outfits. Additional awards will include Best Team Spirit and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Among the best prizes are several “staycations.” Everyone playing the game will get both a team based bib and buff. Parking is available in the downtown area, as well as a paid option at the City Tower Garage.

Racers can show up as early as 5:30pm. Tickets via RunSignUp are $20 at the point of writing, but the cost will go up after the 12th April. The event will kick off at 6:30pm. Advertising experiences which involve exploration often includes flyer printing. The race is taking place on the 3rd May.
