What's Happening in San Antonio, TX…

New Asian restaurant coming to San Antonio

A restaurant that began as a pop-up in 2016 will return as a brick-and-mortar establishment soon. Ben Annotti, Andrew Ho, and Sean Wen will serve boiled seafood with a Vietnamese twist at their new place, the Pinch Boil House and Bia Bar. The concept has proven very popular in Texas, where restaurants like Cajon Crawfish and LA Crawfish have successfully opened on the Gulf Coast.

This type of cuisine first became popular in Houston, which is the hometown of both Ho and Wen. But they say the new restaurant will stand out for more than its take on seafood. Wen said that food is the vehicle he plans to use to tell the story of the proliferation of Asian-American culture.

The story starts with the boil. Patrons of the restaurant will be able to pick the seafood of their choice, which will then be simmered in either water or broth, covered in their favorite sauce, and then brought to the table. Street food will also be available, such as the banh mi, the traditional Vietnamese sandwich. This treat will be available in the traditional baguette style, or as a reimagined bowl.

Annotti, Ho, and Wen hope to open on North Main Avenue by the end of the summer. They might consider working with a flyer printing company to create handouts, including coupons, to distribute at the opening, to invite patrons to try the new place.
