Comic Con, that wild celebration of pop culture, films, and general geekiness, has spread from San Diego to cities around the world, and the party went on for three days in San Antonio, starting on September 11th and winding down the 13th.
One of the special guests was actor Edward James Olmos, who starred in the television hits “Miami Vice” and “Battlestar Galactica”, as well as the classic film “Stand and Deliver”. Olmos said this Comic Con is the first convention he has done in San Antonio, although he has friends in the city and has filmed movies here. However, nothing he had done prepared him for the welcome he got from the fans. He described the convention as a “lovefest”.
Other celebrity guests at the con included Ron Perlman, star of the television series “Sons of Anarchy” and the “Hellboy” films. Perlman also played Vincent in the first “Beauty and the Beast” series, which aired from 1987-1990. Also on hand were Sam J. Jones, who played Flash Gordon in the eponymous 1980 film, and stars from AMC's hit series “The Walking Dead”.
Of course, no con is complete without fans dressed as their favorite characters. Attendees dressed as Han Solo and Princess Leia, Doctor Strange, and Captain Marvel, where among those who enjoyed the event.
Con organizers could work with a flyer printing company to create a mailer for attendees, recapping the fun and asking them to save the date for next year.
