Plano venue prepares for Lunar New Year

Plano will be marking the Lunar New Year with an event that will celebrate the Year of the Snake.

A venue in the city will be hosting a special event featuring a traditional Chinese meal, and entertainment is also on the agenda. The gathering is for alumni of several different postsecondary institutions, and the proceeds will be donated to the North Texas Food Bank.

The menu for the occasion will incorporate dishes ranging from dim sum to Peking duck, with a total of 10 courses. Wine and water will be supplied, but guests are welcome to bring along their own bottle if they wish. There will be dragon and lion dances as well as a performance by the Dun Hua Orchestra, along information shared about popular Lunar New Year's Eve traditions.

JS Chen’s Dim Sum & BBQ will be the location for the event, which according to the event listing is one of the top 10 dim sum eateries in the U.S.

An event that celebrates a special occasion may call for custom-designed decor. This can be sourced from area banner printing companies.

The Stanford Dallas Fort Worth Alumni Club will be hosting its 14th Lunar New Year Celebration on Sunday, February 23. Individual adult, child, and table tickets may be purchased through its web listing, and it is anticipated they will sell out quickly.
