North Texas is home to some specialized flying hunters, and these feathery friends will be the stars of the show during an activity that will take place in Plano.
The Blackland Prairie Raptor Center will have some of its feathered ambassadors on hand for a meet and greet information session set for Haggard Library's Program Room. It's a ticketed activity, and passes to reserve a seat must be picked up in person.
The facilitator for the workshop will discuss the species of hawks, owls, and falcons found in North Texas. Specially trained, they will offer opportunities to view live birds and explain their role in their respective ecosystems. Everyone will find out about their special adaptations and how they allow them to access a variety of food sources. All ages may take a seat in the audience and ask any questions.
Hands-on nature-based learning events can spark an interest in environmental stewardship, while also being enjoyable to be involved in. Presentation materials, pop-up Banners to use as signage and backdrops, and other items can be ordered from area banner printing companies.
Haggard Library will welcome this introduction to the beauty of birds of prey on Thursday, June 10 from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Tickets will be available up to 30 minutes ahead of its scheduled start time.
