Plano parents welcome to register for Birth Boot Camp

Parents who are expecting again may feel like they are well versed when it comes to the birthing process, but an upcoming local refresher course should still have lots to offer them.

Plano Birthplace has made arrangements to host a class that will provide tips for making their birthing experience even more special, and it will give them a time when they can slow down, relax and enjoy their current pregnancy for the unique experience it is. They can also ask questions, share their concerns, and meet others who are also expecting their second or subsequent baby.

The activity will follow a small group format, and the participants will be encouraged to carve some time from their busy schedule to focus on their future bundle of joy. It will run for four hours, and the host for the occasion will be Melissa Ritchie, who is a certified doula and Birth Boot Camp instructor.

One of the goals of this sort of activity is often to encourage mindfulness among those who take part. Offering each student a “Parent’s Journal” can give them a way to record their experiences, and these can be crafted by area Print shops.

Plano Birthplace is currently accepting registrations for this event, which will be welcoming future parents of two or more children on December 12. It will start at 10:00 am and the registration fee for the session is $100.
