From food to building materials, fungi can be used in a variety of ways, and a Plano workshop will explore the species of mushrooms that can be used in the home kitchen.
Whether they’re morels, truffles, enokis or common grocery store button mushrooms, there's a wide assortment of species of edible fungi. The “Meatless Meals: Mastering Mushrooms” workshop will be offered by Central Market Cooking School, and it is for those age 18 and up.
Students will be immersed in the world of mushrooms, and will learn about the various types available and how to best prepare each one. The participants will be working in small teams, and everyone will learn the best way to prepare sauteing and frying mushrooms, preparing soups and also how to make this ingredient the star of a meatless meal will all be covered, and learners age 21 and up will be able to sip on a glass of wine while they work.
The activity will start at 6:30 pm, but the registrants are asked to arrive a few minutes early so they can check in and sign a safety waiver. Letterheads and other documents for a function can be prepared by area Stationery printers.
This introduction to culinary mushrooms will be on offer at 320 Coit Road in Plano. It's scheduled for June 3rd.
