A Plano park will be celebrating Parks Week with a special activity, and everyone is encouraged to get involved and enjoy some nature and fresh air.
Spring Creek Forest will be welcoming the public for its two day Bioblitz , and these stakeholders will be engaging in some grassroots level environmental stewardship. The goal is for them to catalog as many species as they can, and this data will be used in a variety of ways.
According to the planners, anyone can take part even if they have no experience in plant and animal identification, as the free iNaturalist app can be used to identify plants, insects, and other animals. All someone has to do to take part is take two photos of each of the species they see, and these will be collected for future use.
Anyone who plans on taking part is advised to download the app ahead of time, and there will be help available on site on the day of the activity. Maps and other printed materials that aid in making the most of a function like this can be sourced from area printing services companies.
The staging area for the 2021 Spring Creek Forest Bioblitz will be located at 1770 Holford Road. Those who would like to take part can do so on May 1 and 2.
