Heroic race swoops into town

Runners in Plano have the chance to take part in a fast race to support an important organization.

The Race for Heroes 5K run and walk is a road race that starts and ends at the MedAssets Office building. Along the way, there will be water stations and photographers taking pictures.

There will also be a kids’ fun run that takes participants along a walking path that circles the office building.

After the race, participants and attendees can check out the post-race, family friendly festivities and grab something to eat at one of the food trucks. Awards will be distributed to the top male and female performers, along with the top three finishers in every age group.

Registration costs $25 for adults and $15 for the fun run. Registrants will be given a T-shirt and a finisher’s medal. No doubt flyer printing was used to make promotional handouts for the event.

By being a ‘virtual runner’, individuals can also support the cause for $15. Proceeds from the race will benefit Hire Heroes USA, an organization that provides job opportunities for USA veterans and their spouses.

The 5K race kicks off tomorrow, May 16, at 7:30 am with the fun run following at 8:30 am. Race day registration will take place from 6:30 am until 7:15 am. MedAssets is located on 5543 Legacy Drive. Parking is free.
